Upcoming Infrastructure Projects by Indian Government in 2023

A country’s infrastructure is one of its key drivers of growth. India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. The government of India has taken many steps towards boosting its economy by backing several infrastructure projects.

Some of the finest and most ambitious infrastructure projects are either planned or are already underway. Here are some examples:

  1. Bharatmala Pariyojana: This is a road and highways project that aims to connect 550 districts in India through a network of highways. It is expected to cover around 83,000 km and cost around Rs 5.35 lakh crore. The project is expected to continue into 2023.
  2. Sagarmala Project: This is a port-led development project that aims to modernize India’s ports and develop a coastal economic zone. The project is expected to cover 14,500 km of coastline and cost around Rs 8.3 lakh crore. It is expected to continue into 2023.
  3. Smart Cities Mission: This is a project that aims to develop 100 smart cities in India. The project is expected to cost around Rs 2.03 lakh crore and focus on areas such as urban planning, transport, energy, and e-governance. The project is ongoing and may continue into 2023.
  4. Dedicated Freight Corridor: This is a railway project that aims to develop dedicated freight corridors for the efficient movement of goods across the country. The project is expected to cover around 3,300 km and cost around Rs 81,459 crore. Indian Railways has commissioned 1,724 km out of 2,843 km of Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) till February 07, 2023.
  5. National Waterway Project: This is a project that aims to develop inland waterways for transportation and tourism. The project is expected to cover around 20,000 km of waterways and cost around Rs 25,000 crore. The project is ongoing and may continue into 2023.
  6. Navi Mumbai International Airport: The new airport will be about 35 kilometres from Mumbai’s current airport. The initial idea was to build the airport in four phases, from now until 2032. However, because of the epidemic, it has been rescheduled.
In the first phase, the airport hopes to serve 10 million passengers. Later, in the fourth phase, the number of people will reach 60 million. This will be the city of Mumbai’s second airport. The airport is currently scheduled to open in 2024.
  7. Mumbai Trans Harbour Link: The anticipated cost of this megaproject is 14,000 crores. The project has started in April 2018 and is currently under progress. Sewri and Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai will be connected through this Harbour Link. The MTHL is a 22-kilometer-long sea bridge that spans the Mumbai metropolitan area. It will be India’s longest sea link once completed.
  8. Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway stretches about 1350 kilometres. It is being built between our country’s national capital and financial capital. The project began in 2019 and is expected to cost a total of 1,03,000 crores. 350 km of the total project had been finished as of July 2021. The rest of the work is in progress. By January 2025, the project is likely to be completed.
  9. Project HIMANK: The goal of Project HIMANK is to construct a motorable road that runs across the world’s tallest glaciers. The project is located in Ladakh’s eastern region. It will be built at a height of 17,800 feet. This will be a crucial link connecting the region’s glaciers between Sasoma and Saser La.

This was an exhaustive list of all the mammoth infrastructure projects that are lined up for this year and the years to come in India. The one thing that is common amongst all these projects is the need of massive raw material. What is the common denominator amongst all these projects? Crushed rock! The higher the demand for crushed rock, the more volume needs to be supplied. To meet these requirements, you need nothing but the best for your rock crushing plant that can churn out high volumes of crushed rock at an optimal rate. To make this possible, you need to invest in a high quality rock crusher and other equipment.
